Urinary incontinence is the loss of bladder control and is a common and often embarrassing problem. The severity ranges from occasionally leaking urine when you cough or sneeze to having an urge to urinate that’s so sudden and strong you don’t get to a toilet in time. Though it occurs more often as people get older, urinary incontinence isn’t an inevitable consequence of aging. If urinary incontinence affects your daily activities, don’t hesitate to see your doctor. For most people, simple lifestyle changes or medical treatment can ease discomfort or stop urinary incontinence.
Dr Yogesh specializes in diagnosing and treating urinary incontinence and have experience treating people who have had previous, unsuccessful treatment. Our Urology Center is on par with the best facilities in the world and guarantees the latest in technology and care.
Prevention
Urinary incontinence isn’t always preventable. However, to help decrease your risk:
• Maintain a healthy weight
• Practice pelvic floor exercises
• Avoid bladder irritants, such as caffeine, alcohol and acidic foods
• Eat more fiber, which can prevent constipation, a cause of urinary incontinence
• Don’t smoke, or seek help to quit smoking.
Treatment
Treatment for urinary incontinence depends on the type of incontinence, its severity and the underlying cause. A combination of treatments may be needed. If an underlying condition is causing your symptoms, your doctor will first treat that conditions.
For SUI sling procedures are minimally invasive but very effective.
